Stephen Russell – Managing Director
Despite his youthful appearance, unbelievably Stephen is over 50 and married with two children. He joined Clarion in 1988 and prior to this he had been a student at Wilson’s School and then studied Business & Finance at Brighton Polytechnic and for the CIM Diploma in Marketing. He progressed from temporary staff member to Managing Director in 9 years, increasing the merchandise client base from single figures to over five hundred.
During his time at Clarion Golf, Stephen has worked on well over a thousand events and as Tournament Director of the Golf Club Team Championship of Great Britain & Ireland and for the African PGA in Kenya and Zimbabwe. He has also worked as a Press Liaison Officer on the European Tour and as a photographer for Golf Weekly and the Daily Mail. He is a former Chairman of Greens at Woodcote Park Golf Club in Surrey and also served on the committee of the Surrey County Golf Union.
Stephen played golf for Surrey for over 25 years. He played in British Boys, Youths and Amateur Championships and achieved a handicap of plus 1 (one better than scratch). In 2002 Stephen was part of the three man team that won the EGU English Champion Club title and represented England in the European Club Cup, finishing a commendable third place. Team mates Kieran Staunton and Zane Scotland, have both since gained PGA European Tour Cards (which probably explains why they did so well).
In 2007 Stephen ran his first London Marathon. He raised over £6,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. In 2015, having forgotten how much it hurt in 2007, he did it again to raise funds for the Sparks charity.
Laura Brown – Office & Administration Manager
2017 was Laura’s 25th year at Clarion Golf! We know for a fact that she has never hit a golf ball in anger (or any other mood) but she does come from a sporty family and is a huge tennis fan. Of course, sitting in an office listening to blokes waffle on about the sport they love for 25 years can actually be educational and so suffice to say, Laura knows an awful lot about golf, the business of golf and all things ‘Clarion Golf’. She also ‘holds the fort’ when Stephen and Jeremy have found yet another excuse to visit a golf club.
Laura is also married with two teenage girls.
